My Sephora’s 2017 VIB Sale Cart: Perfume/Cologne and Makeup Sets (And Price Breakdowns!)
It’s that time of year again! Time to start selecting and purchasing gifts for friends and family. It’s also the time of year for great sales, so that works out nicely! One of those sales, is Sephora’s annual VIB sale (It ends at midnight tonight, so run, don’t walk! Don’t worry though, even if you miss the sale, these products are still awesome and available!). For those of you that don’t know, I’m a total Sephora junkie. I’m particularly fond of their value sets, so when the VIB sale rolls around, I make sure to buy a set or two. For those who aren’t “in the know”, Sephora has a pretty generous (and FREE) loyalty program called “Beauty Insider”. Signing up is free, and throughout the year members have access to member-only sales, discount codes, even a pretty nice quality birthday gift. There are three levels, without going into too much detail (I’ll post a link with the details at the end of this post), it’s based on how much you spend at Sephora a year. Regardless, when the VIB sale comes around, you could have spent zero dollars and as long as you are a basic “Beauty Insider ” member, you still get 15% off your purchase. The next two levels, VIB and Rouge, get 20% off. It may not sound like much, but when you’re dealing with high-end products, that rarely ever go on sale, it can make a huge difference.
As mentioned above, I LOVE Sephora’s value sets. I’ve found that they are a great bang for my buck, plus they allow me to try out items, colors or fragrances I would not have ordinarily considered. I’ve also found that they make wonderful gifts. They are more personal than a gift card, but still allow the person receiving the gift to customize and/or select what they want (in the case of the perfume and cologne sets). Speaking of, I get my sweet Hubby the cologne set EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR.

He enjoys colognes, and the set allows him to try out the fragrances at home, before committing to one. Why do I say committing to one? Because both of the “Sephora Favorites” cologne and perfume sets come with a “scent certificate” that you take back to a Sephora store and redeem for a full size scent. Clever, right?! However, there’s a trick to these sets. They usually cost around $65 (full price) so for the best value, you want to select a fragrance that costs more that. They tend to throw some in that cost under $65, so don’t fall for it! It would take the value out of “value set”. My husband once picked a fragrance under the $65 mark and I still haven’t forgiven him lol!
Figuring out the value of each cologne/perfume typically means going online (or in-store), finding all of the scents (in the correct size) and pricing them out. Not hard, but still tedious and a bit time consuming. Well guess what friends?! I’ve done it for you! Below is the break down for the Sephora Favorites Cologne Sampler.

Remember how I mentioned that I get the cologne set for my husband every year? Well, it goes both ways, and he gets me the perfume set. I figure since I know it’s coming, I’d do him a solid and take advantage of the sale lol! I’ve saved some serious money with the last two sets. Last year I selected Derek Lam 10 Crosby Silent Street ($95 at the time) and the year before Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia ($78), so as you can see, when the sampler costs $65, I definitely get a lot of value out of them. This year’s perfume sampler breakdown is:
