Tasty Travels RTM: Sang Kee Peking Duck
The very first Reading Terminal Market food stall to be featured on “Tasty Travels RTM” is…drumroll please… Sang Kee Peking Duck! This was the very first place we tried and is my son’s absolute favorite. No kidding, he gets it every.single.time we go. Sang Kee also has a stand alone restaurant in Chinatown (which is super close to the market!) and it’s supposed to be really good as well.
The stall is pretty easy to find. It’s on the 12th street side of the market, along the outside aisle. The roasted pork and Peking duck display is hard to miss!
The first dish I want to talk about is the Peking duck and roasted pork platter, also known as the “#7”.
This is one of my son’s absolute favorite meals. We take out the duck, and he tucks into the rest. Duck tends to have a ton of tiny bones, so if he wants some, we take the meat off for him. Raise your hand if you’re a paranoid parent! ?? Don’t worry friends, my husband and I make sure the duck doesn’t go to waste… such a sacrifice! This platter has a ton of food, over which they pour a bit of the duck broth. Yum!
Next up is the Peking duck noodle soup with shrimp dumplings (I always ask for them to add bok choy).
This is what I ordered for myself. The soup is tasty, and I always enjoy it, however, if I could add one thing it would be a little “kick” of something…hot sauce maybe?
Last, but not least, shrimp dumplings.
This is something I always order, regardless if I’m getting my lunch there or not (especially since we always stop by Sang Kee’s for my son anyway). They are stuffed full of shrimp and the sauce is super flavorful. So good!
I totally recommend this place! I feel like you get a lot of bang for your buck, and we’ve never been disappointed in the food. If you’re ever at Reading Terminal Market, check them out!
I’ve fallen a little behind on writing, so I’m currently playing catch up. Keep an eye out over the next few days for more “Tasty Travels RTM” posts. As always friends, thanks for reading! ?~Lyssa
