Home Style: A Glam Office Space in a Small Area
I decided to start a life and style website/blog as something to do for me. My older son is in school full time and before I know it, my toddler will be too (I don’t want to think about it!). I love to travel and to style people & spaces, so going in this direction just felt right. However, it also means that I need to spend a lot of time researching, planning and writing.
In a small on-base house full of rowdy guys (even my dog is male!) trying to find a reasonably quiet space is no easy feat. My dining room table was just not cutting it. Luckily for me, while the house is pretty small, the master bedroom is fairly spacious. We had an empty area (Ok fine, maybe there was still an unpacked box…or two…against that wall a year and half after moving in. Oops!) in a corner flanked by a large window and our bathroom. My sweet Hubby encouraged me to do whatever I wanted, even if it meant the color scheme would inevitably include *GASP* gold (to say he’s not a fan of gold decor is something of an understatement)!
I knew I wanted a feminine space with a healthy dose of glam, so I set out to look for a “mirrored” desk, which I have always considered to be both. I found one I really liked on Wayfair. You can find it here. It’s currently over 50% off! When I purchased it at the end of February, I paid $100 more, so my loss is your gain! Since I purchased it online, I was concerned about it arriving in one piece, but it arrived quickly and without a scratch. The glass is all around the desk, so you don’t have to have it against a wall. The drawers are lined in velvet and the middle drawer has latches so the face can be pulled down (if you want to keep a keyboard in there).
With the space being so limited, I decided to go with a “Ghost” chair. It has a small footprint and since it’s clear it gives the illusion of not taking up as much room as a traditional office chair. I found it on Wayfair as well, but unfortunately they no longer have it. A lovely and similar option can be found here. The adorable gold and white bow pillow is from Target and can be found here.
The mirror is from Target and can be found here. I love its unique shape! I decided to include a mirror in the design because I get pretty good light from the window next to it, so it can double as a vanity.
The picture/art frames I also found at Target. They can be found here and here. The profile art pieces of my boys, I made myself. I’ll be publishing a how-to tutorial in a future post.
Last but not least, the rug. The rug is also from Target and can be found here. It has this pretty, vintage farmhouse look to it that I love! It’s currently 15% off and looks so much more expensive than it actually is.
There are a few items I didn’t go over, but if you see something you like that I didn’t include information for, leave me a comment below or a message on Facebook (Pearls and Pinecones), Instagram (pearlsandpinecones) or Twitter (@PearlsPinecones) and I’ll be happy to share! As always, thanks for reading! ?~Lyssa
